Prof Oyeronke Odunola's Profile


Professor Oyeronke A. Odunola is the Director of Research, Cancer Research and Molecular Biology Laboratories, Department of Biochemistry, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria and the immediate past Director, Research Management Office, of the same University.

Professor Odunola has thirty-three (33) years of teaching and research experience in cancer research and molecular biology, environmental toxicology, nutritional genomics and climate change. She has also acquired expertise in research administration and management.

In terms of capacity building, she has successfully supervised and mentored eight (8) PhD students, one hundred and twenty-five (125) MSc students and over two hundred (200) undergraduate students.

She has a total of eighty (80) publications in reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals and fifty-two abstracts in conference proceedings to her credit.

She was a subject of biographical records of Marquis Who’s Who in the World, 16th edition, 1999.

Professor Odunola has organised and coordinated several training workshops for Early Career- and Mid-Career - Researchers on grantsmanship, manuscript writing, data management and commercialisation, researcher’s development and mentoring.

In addition, she has organised and coordinated training workshops on research administration and financial management for Non-Teaching Staff in the Bursary (Audit & Grants), Legal Unit and Research Offices.

Professor Odunola is a member of Science Association of Nigeria; Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology (NISEB), West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA), African Society of Drosopillists (ASD), the Society of Toxicology (SOT), USA and Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), USA. She is an honorary Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Kwara Chapter.

Professor Odunola enjoys reading, photography, gardening and singing.
