Professor Olufunke Ola-Davies is the first Professor of Veterinary Biochemistry in Africa with specialisation in Environmental Pollution & Toxicology, Phytomedicine and Cancer Research in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

She holds Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, two Masters degrees (Veterinary Parasitology, Biochemistry) and a doctoral degree (Biochemistry) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.

Professor Ola-Davies is one of the leading scientists of toxicology in the University of Ibadan, and in recognition of her active role in this field was honoured with the Global Senior Scholar exchange programme Award (GSSEP) of the Society of Toxicology, USA in March 2017.

Professor Ola-Davies is the recipient of many institutional, national and International award amongst which are:
  • Postgraduate Training Fellowship of the Third World Organization for Women in Science (2002).
  • Norman E Borlaug Fellowship, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Overseas Training Research Fellowship (USA).
  • IUTOX/AstraZeneca/SOT Endowment Fund award (2014).
  • Biochemical Society Travel Award (2014, 2017 & 2019).
  • The Physiological Society (UK) Travel award (2013- 2019).
  • Tertiary Education Trust Fund Award (2014).
  • The World Academy of Science -UNESCO Associateship 2015-2018 etc.
Her research focus is on environmental toxicology and roles of medicinal plants and antioxidants in mitigating against cancer, reproductive and cardio-renal toxicities of environmental contaminants.
She has published 73 articles in reputable peer reviewed international and local journals Based on scholarship.
She is a Norman Borlaug Fellow (USA), Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeon, Nigeria (FCVSN), and Fellow of Institute of Industrial Administration (Nigeria) (FIIA).
She was recently listed among the top 500 authors by Scholarly output in Nigeria over the period of 2014 to .2019.
She is an examiner in universities within and outside Africa, a reviewer to many local and International peer reviewed journals and a member of many Learned Societies amongst which are Society of Toxicology, USA, Physiological Society UK, Biochemical Society, UK, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, USA, ASPET and others.
Prof Olufunke Ola-Davies is a visiting professor at a number of institutions including Oregon State University, USA, University of Forte Hare, Alice, South Africa and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim.
She is currently an assessor and external examiner in some Universities within and outside Nigeria and a member of Senate of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
Aside supervision and mentorship of junior academics nationally and internationally; she makes philanthropic contributions to National Development through board membership and active participation in the activities of the Worth in Womanhood, a non-governmental organization which organizes value driven classes based leadership, empowerment and training program for the not so privileged females and civic engagement program for underserved women in Nigeria.
